seeking to help nanny find full time employment

Essential Info: Name: Jen, jenniferlclark AT gmail DOT com Neighborhood: South Park Slope, Brooklyn (close to library, park, playgrounds, etc. great location!) Preference is to drop off at someone else's apartment in the same general neighborhood (building lacks an elevator for the double stroller) Number and age of children: 1 child, age 10 months Schedule: Flexible (including part-time care), but our schedule has been Mon - Fri 8:30am - 6:00pm Hi! Due to changed job circumstances, we will (with much sadness) be leaving our nanny share this fall, and are looking for a new family to take our place. We have had a wonderful experience with both our nanny, Ika, and with the other family in the share. We have been a part of the share since our son was 5 months old (he is now 11+ months). He lights up every morning when Ika appears in the doorway, and I get photos sent to my phone each day of him playing and smiling. The feeling is mutual: Ika is warm and sweet with both babies. She has special nicknames for each of them. She is energetic and hands-on, always sitting on the floor with them to sing songs and play games. She takes them out to the library, the playground, or just on a long walk. Ika is communicative and responsive to my questions and requests. She somehow seems to handle two babies for 9 hours a day twice as easily as I am able to handle one. As for safety, Ika is cautious and mature. She has helped introduce our son to solids, and has overseen him as he goes from sitting to crawling to standing, and has always put the children's safety above all else throughout these changes. We called all of our nanny’s references and did a professional background check prior to hiring her. She renewed her CPR certification this year. I also cannot say enough good things about the other family in the share. We did not know each other before going in on the share together, and my husband and I feel very fortunate to have found a family that is both easy-going and reliable. Whenever there has been a logistical issue to discuss, it's been easy to resolve, because they are level-headed and forthright. We hadn't considered a nanny share before my son arrived, and now I am so glad that we made this choice. Our son has been lucky enough to have both one more loving caretaker and an adorable playmate as part of his life. If our new employment situation didn't require a change in care, we would happily stay on indefinitely. Please email me with any questions. I would love to talk about our experience with anyone who's thinking about a share. Jen jenniferlclark AT gmail DOT com
